Back of Beyond - Andrew
The sole paramedic in an outback town of 100. Responsible for the lives of anyone wandering into the vast desert region of the Munga-Thirri (Simpson Desert) national park.

From deep in the Australian outback to 320 miles north of the Arctic Circle, Back of Beyond explores life in remote communities. Between 2015-2017, Sam Nester interviewed dozens of people about life on the frontier in the age of technology. Through oral histories, music, and video, this project reveals lessons about climate change, Indigenous rights, immigration, and what community means to a diverse range of people living in some of the farthest reaches of Australia and the USA.
